Taniya Bhatia Biography

Taniya Bhatia is a well-known Indian cricketer. She was born on November 28th, 1997.  Her primary role is that of a wicket-keeper. She is a member of the Punjab and India teams.   RP Singh is her current coach, and she is undergoing training right now.[3]   Bhatia was recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as one of the top five players who made their mark in women’s cricket in 2018.

 

Early life 

She was born in Chandigarh to her mother Sapna and her father Sanjay Bhatia. Her father is a banker in India and competed in cricket at an all-India university level. He works for the Central Bank of India. She also has a younger brother named Sehaj and an older sister named Sanjana.

Earlier in her career, Bhatia received instruction from Yograj Singh, a former Indian cricketer who is also Yuvraj Singh’s father, while she was a student at DAV Senior Secondary School. She is enrolled at the MCM DAV College for Women in the BA-II program at the moment. Both Bhatia’s father and her uncle were accomplished cricket players in their own right. Her brother has also signed up to play for the Under-19 cricket squad.

 

 

Early career 

During her time at the DAV academy, she was the youngest girl to ever represent Punjab in the U19 tournament, and she did it at the age of just 11. She soon joined the senior state team at the age of 16.

At the age of 13, Bhatia became the youngest player to play for the senior Punjab team in the inter-state domestic tournament in 2011. During the inter-zonal cricket tournament that took place in Guwahati in 2015, she led the Under-19 North Zone side as captain. In addition to that, she was accountable for 10 dismissals while playing the game and scored 227 runs. [6] When she turned 16, she has immediately promoted to India A squad. She went on a professional slump for two years which almost made her lose her interest in cricket altogether. She overcame it with the support of her mother which motivated her to pursue her dreams.

 

 

International career 

She played her first Twenty20 International (WT20I) match for India Women on February 13, 2018, against South Africa Women. Bhatia is the first Chandigarh woman to play cricket for the national team. Bhatia’s number on the team is 28. She played in her first Women’s One-Day International (WODI) match on September 11, 2018, against Sri Lanka.

She was put on India’s team for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies in October. She was put on India’s team for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in January 2020.

In May 2021, she was put on India’s Test squad for their one-off match against the England women’s cricket team.

Bhatia’s first Test match was on June 16, 2021, when she played for India against England. She was put on India’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in January 2022. She was put on India’s cricket team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, in July 2022.
