Early life

Lisa Sweeney (née Mudd) and Scott Sweeney welcomed their son Sweeney into the world on September 12, 1997 in the city of Spokane, Washington. Both of her parents are professionals in their own fields; her mom practices law, and her dad is a doctor.  Her name is Trent, and she has a brother. [5] Sweeney spent her childhood in the Panhandle region of Idaho, in the state’s northwest corner, near the state’s border with Washington. She grew up in a lakeside home in the country that has been in her family for five generations.  Sweeney has claimed in the past that she comes from a “religious family.”
Spokane, Washington’s Saint George’s School was Sweeney’s alma mater.

She participated in a wide variety of athletics and has been quoted as saying, “I was in every single sport available.” “I was a member of the snow slalom ski team, the baseball team, the soccer team, and I also did wakeboarding.”  Sweeney also graduated at the top of his class while studying a number of other languages.  After trying out for a supporting role in a locally produced indie movie that was being shot around the Spokane region, she decided to pursue a career in acting.  She gave her parents a business plan that spanned the next five years in order to persuade them to let her pursue a career in acting. [4] When Sweeney was 14 years old, she made the decision to move to Los Angeles and immediately began to apply for and book acting roles in commercials in the cities of Seattle and Portland, Oregon, where her family was temporarily residing at the time.

Early work

Along Came the Devil, which was Sweeney’s debut feature-length film, was in the horror genre. Sweeney has appeared as a guest on a number of popular television programs, including 90210, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, In the Vault, and Pretty Little Liars.

Sweeney played the role of Emaline Addario on the Netflix series Everything Sucks!, which took place in Oregon in 1996 and centered on two different sets of high school kids. After that, she had a recurring role in the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects, playing the character Alice, a roommate that Amy Adams’s character encounters when she is staying in a mental institution. [14] [15] However, the filmmaker started adding additional scenes with her character even though she was only intended to have a little part to play in the beginning.  Sweeney prepared for the part by reading accounts of young women who struggled with mental illness and engaged in self-inflicted physical harm, as well as by seeing institutions that treated patients who engaged in such behavior. [14] [16] She shot Everything Sucks! and Sharp Objects at the same time, with the former taking place during the week and the latter taking place on the weekends.

In 2018, the suspense movie Under the Silver Lake had Sweeney in a supporting role.

During the second season of the dystopian drama series The Handmaid’s Tale, she appeared in recurrent episodes playing the character Eden Spencer, a devout and submissive young woman from the dictatorial Republic of Gilead.
In the horror movie Along Came the Devil, she played the role of the protagonist’s love interest.
The following year, Sweeney had roles in three different films: the drama Clementine, the coming-of-age film Big Time Adolescence, and the dramedy Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was directed by Quentin Tarantino.
