Sudha Chandran Biography

Sudha Chandran is an Indian Bharatanatyam dancer as well as an actress who has appeared on both Indian television and in films. She was born on September 27, 1965. While traveling with her parents from Madras to Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu in 1981, she was involved in a car accident that caused her to sustain injuries to her leg. Because of the gangrene that developed in her leg, her parents made the decision to have it amputated. However, she subsequently became an established Bharatnatyam dancer. Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kissii Roz, Yamini in Naagin 1, 2, and 3, and Chitradevi in Deivam Thandha Veedu, the Tamil remake of Saath Nibhana Saathiya, are some of the most well-known roles that Chandran has played in the past. She reprised her role as Seema in the sixth season of the Indian television show Naagin, which was titled Naagin 6.

She was awarded National Film Award – Special Jury Award for the Telugu film Mayuri which is based on her life at 33rd National Film Awards in 1985.

Early and personal life 

Mumbai is where Sudha Chandran began her life. She had mentioned in an interview with Nettvu that although she was born and raised in Mumbai, her family is originally from Vayalur, which is located in the district of Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Her great-grandparents, who represented the fourth generation of their family, had traveled from Tamil Nadu to Palakkad, in the state of Kerala. Her dad’s name is K.D. Chandran, who worked at USIS and had a background in acting, was an actor in the past. Sudha Chandran received her Bachelor of Arts degree. from Mithibai College in Mumbai, and then went on to earn his Master of Arts degree. in economics.

In May 1981, when Chandran was approximately 16 years old and living in Tamil Nadu, she was involved in an accident that resulted in injuries to both of her legs. She was initially treated for her injuries at a hospital in the surrounding area, and then she was transferred to the Vijaya Hospital in Madras for further care. An amputation was necessary after it was determined by the medical staff that gangrene had developed on her right leg. According to Chandran, this time was the most difficult she had ever experienced in her life. After that, she was able to regain some of her mobility with the assistance of a Jaipur prosthetic foot. After a break of two years, she got back into dancing and has since performed in India, Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, and Oman. In 1994, Sudha Chandran wed Ravi Dang, who was working as an assistant director. Invertis University in Bareilly bestowed upon her an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

During the production of the movie, Sudha became acquainted with Ravi Dang, an associate director, and it was love at first sight for her. They later made the decision to get married.

However, due to the fact that he is Punjabi and I am Tamilian, her family did not approve of this union. They attempted to persuade them, but they were not convinced. Following a great deal of persuasion on both sides, the couple at last eloped and tied the knot.

At the Chiranagar Murugan Temple in Chembur, Sudha and Ravi Dang, who was an assistant director at the time, wed in the year 1994. She received an honorary doctorate from Invertis University, which is located in Bareilly.


It was the Telugu film Mayuri that marked the beginning of her career. That movie was inspired by her real life events. Both the Tamil and Malayalam versions of the film were dubbed. It was rechristened as Naache Maayuri when it was translated into Hindi.

Within the context of that movie, Sudha reprised her role as herself alongside Shekhar Suman, Dina Pathak, and Aruna Irani. She was honored with the Special Jury Award at the National Film Awards in 1986 for the role that she played in the film Mayuri.

Her television shows Kaahin Kissi Roz and K Street Pali Hill were among the most memorable of her career. She was one of the contestants in dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 in 2007. In the television series Naagin, she plays the role of Yamini in 2015.



In 1993, Sudha made her debut on television in the role of Sonu in the television series Rishtey, which aired on Zee TV. She had a recurring role as Sanju’s mother on the television series Shaka Laka Boom Boom, which ran from 2000 to 2001. She played the role of Ramola Sikand in the television series Kaahin Kissii Roz from the years 2001 to 2004. She played the role of Renuka Chaudhary in the television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which aired on Star Plus from the years 2002 until 2005. She played the role of Guruma on the Zee television show Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahaan between the years 2003 and 2004. She was a contestant on the dance competition reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2, which aired on Colors TV in the year 2007. In the television show Mata Ki Chowki – Kalyug Mein Bhakti Ki Shakti, she appeared as Shwetha Devi, a woman who pretended to be a Mata rani, from the years 2008 until 2011. From 2012 until 2015, she appeared in episodes of the Tamil television series Thendral playing the role of Bhuvana, Thulasi, and Prabhakar’s mother. In the television drama Dil se Di Dua Saubhagyavati Bhava?, which aired in 2013, she played the part of Mrs. Vyas. She played the role of Yamini Singh Raheja in the supernatural-fiction series Naagin, which was broadcast on Colors TV from 2014 until 2015.
