Raju Srivastav Biography

Satya Prakash Srivastava was an Indian comedian, actor, and politician. He was born on December 25, 1963, and passed away on September 21, 2022. Professionally, he was known as Raju Srivastava, and he was frequently attributed as Gajodhar. Following his success on the talent show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, in which he competed as a stand-up comedian and was awardedthe  the position of second runner-up, he went on to compete in the spin-off competition The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Champions, in which he was awarded the title of “The King of Comedy.”

Srivastav was also a contestant on the third season of Bigg Boss in Hindi, which is the Indian version of the show Big Brother (franchise). On December 4, 2009, he was evicted from the house after being there for more than two months before being voted out.   After that, he became a cast member on the comedy show Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala.

Early career

He got his start in the industry by playing supporting roles in Bollywood films. He had a brief role in the film Maine Pyar Kiya, which was produced by Rajshri Productions, as well as additional roles in a variety of films, including Baazigar and Bombay to Goa. In the Bollywood film Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya, he appeared in multiple roles, including those of actor and comedian.


During the year 2013, Raju and his wife took part in the sixth season of the dancing competition show Nach Baliye, which is broadcast on StarPlus. Additionally, you may have seen him on Comedy Nights with Kapil.  In addition to that, he was a guest on the show Mazaak Mazaak Mein, popularly known as “The Indian Mazaak League.” The program included stand-up comedy and was shown on the channel Life OK. Both Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar, two well-known cricketers, served as judges for the competition.

Political career

During the election for the Lok Sabha in 2014, the Samajwadi Party nominated Srivastava to represent Kanpur. On the other hand, Srivastava renounced his candidacy on March 11, 2014, stating that he did not have sufficient support from the local units of the party. After that, on March 19, 2014, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.


He was suggested to participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Since that time, he had been traveling to various places all throughout the country to host activities that promoted cleanliness. He had previously created a number of music videos to encourage people to stay clean. In addition to that, he had shot a number of ads for television as well as a video containing a public service announcement for the Swacha Bharat Abhiyaan.


Personal life

On July 1, 1993, Srivastav wed Shikha, who was originally from Lucknow. Antara and Ayushman are the couple’s two children from their union. In 2010, Srivastav was the target of threatening phone calls from Pakistan, which warned him not to make jokes against the Pakistani government or the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim during his programs.


Cause of Death

On August 10, 2022, as he was working out in the gym, he had a heart attack, which occurred shortly after he had complained of chest pain. He was treated with angioplasty and then placed on a ventilator after the procedure. During his treatment, the swelling was noticed in his brain, and he was also treated by neurologists. His brain was swollen.  Since he had the heart attack, his health has been listed as “serious,” and on September 21, 2022, he passed away while being treated in Delhi AIIMS.
