Laolu Martins Biography

Laolu Martins, who was one of the people who helped start the restaurant that is now known as Bukka Hut and is situated in Lagos, has passed away.

Martins, a banker with over 21 years of experience in investment banking, corporate banking, stockbroking, asset, and pension fund management, passed away on Tuesday night. Martins was a manager of pension funds and asset funds. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the dead person’s relatives provided confirmation of his passing.




1999 marked the beginning of Martins’ professional life with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He began his career by joining Investment Banking & Trust Company Plc, which is now known as Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. There, he worked in the bank’s units responsible for Financial Control and Trade Finance/Foreign Operations. After that, he was seconded to Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd, where he held the positions of Financial Controller, Head Asset Management, and, most recently, Head Stockbroking.

After that, in 2005, he stepped down from his position to join Shell Nigeria. CPFA Ltd, the Fund Manager of the Shell Companies in Nigeria Pensions Scheme, where he was Head, Investments until 2008 when he resigned to join Nigeria International Security Limited, NISL, an independent financial services firm that specializes in investments within the Nigerian space. CPFA Ltd is the fund manager for the Shell Companies in Nigeria Pensions Scheme.

Cause of Death

After allegedly losing up on his long-fought struggle against despair, Martins took his own life at home in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at precisely 3 a.m., after committing himself.
