Wu Yi Fan (Chinese:, pronounced [ I fn]; born November 6, 1990), better known by his stage name Kris Wu, is a Canadian rap artist, singer, actor, and model who has previously worked in the industry. [He was a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo and its subgroup Exo-M under SM Entertainment until 2014, when he decided to leave the group.]

Wu has been active as a solo artist and actor in Mainland China. He has starred in several films that have become No. 1 box office hits in China, including Mr. Six (2015) and Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back (2017), both of which are among the highest-grossing Chinese films of all time in China. It was in the film XXX: Return of Xander Cage that he made his first appearance in Hollywood (2017).

On July 31, 2021, Wu was taken into custody by authorities in Beijing on suspicion of having committed rape.


In August of 2021, the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing’s Chaoyang District approved his arrest on the grounds that he was suspected of committing rape. The court in Beijing handed down the punishment of 13 years in prison to Wu, and after he finishes serving his time in prison on November 25, 2022, he will be deported from China.

On November 25, 2022, Wu was found guilty of rape and received a sentence of 13 years in jail.
