Jeff German Biography
Jeffrey Michael German was an American journalist who worked as an investigator in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on August 23, 1953, and passed away on September 3, 2022. His work as a journalist in Las Vegas spanned the entirety of four decades. Both the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Sun employed him as a writer.
Background
Jeffrey Michael German was born on the 23rd of August 1953 in the Las Vegas Valley in the state of Nevada. He attended Marquette University and received his master’s degree there.
Over the course of more than twenty years, German covered topics such as organized crime, government, politics, and courts while working as a columnist and reporter for the Las Vegas Sun. He reported on the blaze that broke out at the MGM Grand in 1980 as well as the FBI investigation into bribes taken by Clark County commissioners in the early 2000s (Operation G-Sting).

In 2001, he penned the true crime book Murder in Sin City: The Death of a Las Vegas Casino Boss[4,] which detailed the events leading up to and following the passing of Ted Binion, heir to the Binion’s Horseshoe fortune. In 2010, German became a member of the Las Vegas Review-Journal staff.
After the shooting that took place in Las Vegas in 2017, a German journalist was the first to break the news to the world that the shooter had first targeted and fired upon two nearby jet fuel tanks before turning his attention to the music festival.
Together with Cathy Scott, he was the one who broke the story of the mafia bookmaker Herbert Blitzstein’s death.
German also reported on failures in the city’s inspections prior to the fire that occurred in 2019 at the Alpine Motel Apartments, as well as mismanagement, unlawful misconduct, and bullying within the Clark County Office of the Public Administrator.
Cause of Death
On September 4, 2022, the body of German was discovered stabbed to death outside of his home in the Las Vegas Valley. He had 69 years under his belt. The police said that he had been involved in a fight with somebody outside his house the day before he was found dead, and that they have identified a suspect for his murder. The police also said that they have found evidence that the suspect was responsible for his death. Robert Telles, a public administrator for Clark County, was taken into custody by the police on September 7 on suspicion of murdering German. Telles had been the subject of an investigation by German because of allegations that she was contributing to a hostile work environment and was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a member of the staff. Telles was unsuccessful in his bid to win re-election in the Democratic primary after the findings of the investigation conducted by German were made public.
