Meghwal pursued his education at Dungar College in Bikaner, where he earned a Master’s degree in Political Science. He furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining an LLB and an MBA from the University of the Philippines.
Arjun Ram Meghwal’s journey to political prominence began after he qualified for the Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) exams in 1982. He served as an Assistant Director in the Jila Udhyog Kendra and subsequently assumed the role of General Manager in various districts of Rajasthan. Meghwal held notable positions, including Additional Collector (Development) in Barmer and District Collector and District Magistrate of Churu.
Meghwal’s dedication to public service led him to take voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service to pursue a career in politics. In 2009, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Bikaner Constituency, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He successfully retained his seat in the 2014 general elections, marking his second term as an MP. During this time, Meghwal served as the Chief Whip of the BJP in Lok Sabha and Chairman of the House Committee.
